Corazon del Imperador

Description

Usually Warhammer 40k uses latim, english, greek or germanic inspired names, so I decided to come along with some spanish-inspired imperials for my Dark Heresy campaign.

My previous campaign was focusing on the total clusterfuck of invasions in planet Meteora, a giant super-earth like planet mostly desertic and quite invaluable for the Imperium, as local wildlife (some megafauna worm-like creatures) produces some biologic compounds used to fight aging, and keep most of the old dudes of the Imperium young and healthy for thousands of years (any similarities with Dune are not coincidence XD).

Meteora was invaded by three chaos warbands, the Blood Wolves, the Devourers of Flesh and the Thousand Prodigal Sons, just before a Hive Fleet and a Waaagh!!! reached the same place. And seems like Eldar also have their elven fingers on it. Imperial Guard and Deathwatch tried to fight the invasions and were quite successful at disbanding the Hive Fleet (due to the brave characters), but ended up wasting their troops and getting disbanded themselves... But when the fight was in it's peak, they broadcasted a general help plead through their Astrotelepaths, and it was answered by the Corazon del Imperador, a enormous prison colony/penal legion/spaceship.

At the present the Corazon just sits in the orbit of Meteora, and the characters, now Ordo Hereticus acolytes, were sent to discover why the ship isn't fighting the enemies of the Imperium yet...

----------------------------------------------------------
The Corazon was originally built out of dozen of badly damaged starships recovered by the Adeptus Mechanicus after the Yaet Crusade, in M38. Being too precious to just melt down or throw away, and too fucked up to repair, the ships got welded into each other by the local Magi into a huge half-space station/half-ship construct, and the family Santanna, faithful and powerful east-Ultramarian Imperial Navy officers, were allocated to the ship.

Out of the ship charts, the Corazon was used as mobile warehouse, transport ship for the Legio Titanicus, fortress and flagship, as well as Black Ship for the Inquisition. In M40 a great rebellion engulfed some dozen systems at the Yaet Expanse, and the Corazon was used as prison/concentration/extermination camp for both the rebels and any imperial forces that surrendered to the enemy or refused to fight. As it took centuries for the Administratum to run a census and assign the prisoners as penal legion, most of the original offenders died of old age, and their offspring made the deep hulls of the ship into their own homeworld.

The Administratum saw the Corazon del Imperador as a good vessel to store prisoners and heretics not bad enough to be assigned to death penalty (or so bad that death would be a mercy), and the ship became an official penal colony, with IG personal and Commissars assigned to organize and deploy the troops at batlefields across the Imperium.

The ship now houses the 894ª Penal Infantry, the 206ª Mechanized Penal Infantry, the 928ª Penal Engineers and the 108ª Penal Atmospheric Airforce Wing, and is, by itself, a heavy spacecraft capable of laying wast to many enemy vessels and also bombard atmospheric targets.

Is it just me but does that ship remind anyone of the Hyperion from Starcraft 2? Which by the way is not a bad thing at all.
